Sports. Community. Life.

Why SYAA?

SYAA understands the importance of quality time, that’s why we’re proud to be the only club in Tidewater where you can play 3 youth sports in one location. This allows our families to spend less time driving from place to place, and more time on the field.

We’re focused on giving every child a chance to play, learn, and experience the joys of a team sport. We make sure to stay up-to-date on new practices, regularly sending our coaches to nationally approved courses. We’re also all-volunteer operated and welcome parent involvement in running our programs.

Started in 1981, SYAA has been providing sports and athletic programs for 40 years. With almost 1,800 registered players, certified coaches and referees, and a focus on sportsmanship, SYAA is a true community institution.

Volunteers Needed!

We have lots of ways for you to get involved!

SYAA is proud to be 100% volunteer run - parents, families, alums, and local businesses are directly responsible for every kid’s experience, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

We rely on our members to run the programs and maintain the facilities.  Those that can are encouraged to participate and assist the volunteer committees.

Want to get more involved? If you have the time, we have a role.

Help with the concession stand, referee games, maintain fields and equipment, serve on our board, maintain websites and much more.

Contact us directly and we’ll find the best fit for your time commitment and talents!

What are people saying about SYAA?

“This is a great place to bring your kids for soccer, baseball, and softball. It's a great experience. My kids love playing baseball out here and enjoy the friends they've made. Over the years we've had the opportunity to play some good teams from around the area without the high cost of travel. The training and coaches are good and one of my sons now starts as an 8th grader on the high school team. This is a good organization to develop your kids.” ~ Rick Ilich

“We switched from BCLL and while the commute was significantly longer, it was well worth it. Games weren’t cancelled often due to "possible" bad weather. Our Coach Ricky was great. The kids got a trophy at the end which was included with our initial dues. And we only had to cover concession once. Thank you so much for a great season!” ~ Hanna Bennett

“We’ve been involved with multiple organizations over the part 10 years and this is by far the best. The level of coaching at our daughter’s level is excellent. The coaches push her to grow and truly care about her as a person as well as a player. We drive an hour each way to be a part of this great program. I would recommend SYAA to any new or experienced player who is looking to improve their skills." ~ Larry O’Brien

“Great Organization! Very organized and the commissioners and coaches are top notch.  We’ve definitely made some lasting friendships through the organization and our daughter loves playing soccer with SYAA.” ~ Mari Burrell
